T35 Megawatt Solar Field Proposed at Former Ciba-Geigy Site
More good news, potentially, for Toms River.
Almost 118 acres of the former Ciba-Geigy site could become New Jersey's largest solar farm. The NJ Board of Public Utilities has already approved the application that is now before the Toms River Planning Board.
There could be a big added bonus. Thanks to our resident solar expert, council candidate Josh Kopp, Mo and his team have proposed getting all of the Township's municipal electricity from the site through a process called virtual net metering. This would result in a savings of $1 million per year for Toms River property tax payers.
